II. INTRODUCTION TO KEIMYUNG UNIVERSITY

1. Overview of Keimyung University

Keimyung University was founded in 1899 by American missionary Reverend Edward Adams and Reverends Choi Jaehwa and Kang Ingu, leaders of the Presbyterian Church. In October 1980, the university merged with Dongsan Presbyterian Hospital and was reestablished as Keimyung University Dongsan Medical Center.

Keimyung’s development expanded significantly in the early 1980s with the construction of multiple campuses across 1,658,207 m² in Seongseo (Sindang-dong), Daemyeong, and Dongsan.

2. Key Highlights of Keimyung University

• Strong majors include Korean Language Education, Business Administration, Marketing, Fashion, and Science & Technology
• With its impressive campus, Keimyung has been a filming location for many famous dramas such as Boys Over Flowers, Mr. Sunshine, and Snowdrop
• Currently has over 2,000 international students, including nearly 600 Vietnamese students studying at the university

III. KOREAN LANGUAGE PROGRAM AT KEIMYUNG UNIVERSITY

1. Curriculum

• Classes are assigned by level (1–6) through a placement test
• Small class size (around 15 students per class)
• Integrated learning: listening, speaking, reading, writing
• Uses Korean Alive textbook developed by the university
• Includes field trips and Korean cultural experience programs
• Rewards for students with excellent performance and attendance each term
• Cultural activities such as visits to historical cities (Gyeongju, Andong), Korean quiz contests, Korean singing contests, and international student parties

3. Scholarships

The university’s Language Institute awards scholarships based on students’ academic performance and attendance each semester. About 4–5 outstanding students are selected each term to receive scholarships.

V. DORMITORY AT KEIMYUNG UNIVERSITY

Keimyung University dormitories provide 1,095 rooms for 2,451 students across 7 buildings, including Jinridong (Truth Building, C-CLIK House), Jungeuidong (Justice Building), Sarangdong (Love Building, KELI House, JIKU House), Mideumdong (Trust Building), Somangdong (Hope Building), Hyuprukdong (Cooperation Building), and Bongsadong.

Most international students stay in double rooms at KELI (Keimyung English Language Institute) and are assigned to share rooms with Korean students.

Each dorm room is equipped with bunk beds, desks, chairs, fans, air conditioning, and wardrobes.
