1. Overview of Hanyang University
The name “Hanyang” originates from the former name of Seoul during the Joseon Dynasty. The university’s motto and educational philosophy are “Love in Action and Truth.”
Hanyang University was originally founded as the College of Engineering and Technology in 1939. In 1979, the Hanyang University campus in Ansan was established. The university is also one of the key institutions participating in national research and development projects. It was the first university in Korea to establish programs in architecture and engineering.
Hanyang University focuses on advanced research and currently has approximately 34,633 students enrolled across 24 departments (undergraduate programs) and 18 departments (graduate programs) at its two campuses: Seoul and ERICA.
