1. Overview of Ajou University
Initially established as a technical college, Ajou University has grown significantly over more than 30 years to become one of the top universities in South Korea today. Ajou University is located in Suwon City, about 30 km south of Seoul. Suwon is a major industrial and commercial city, as well as a center for science and technology. To support academic study and research, Ajou University established its Central Library on March 15, 1973. In 1983, Kim Woo-jung, former chairman of the Daewoo Group, donated 5 billion KRW to renovate the library. On October 16, 2017, the entire second floor of the library was transformed into a modern community space for students.
